Age 86, passed away on September 4, 2011.  He was born in Lansing on August 18, 1925.  He was a 1943 graduate of Lansing Eastern High School and was a graduate of Lansing Business University.  He was an accountant with the Michigan State Police for 41 years, retiring in 1984.  Larry was a Life Member of Pilgrim Congregational  United Church of Christ; a veteran of WW II, serving in the U.S. Army; and a member of  American Legion Post #225.  He was a Life Member and Past Master of Capital Lodge of S.O. 66 F. & A.M.; a member of Capital Chapter #9 R.A.M.; Elf Khurafeh Shrine Temple; and Lansing Commandery #25 K.T. 

Surviving are: his wife of 64 years, Betty; daughter, Janine Medler; son, Todd (Kim) Medler; 3 grandchildren, Matthew (Jennifer), Corey, and Haley; and great grandson, Nikolas Medler; brother, Charles (Carol) Medler; sister, Betty (Robert) Leadbitter; sister-in-law, Patricia Medler; nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Richard and Gerald. 

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 8, 2011, in the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, with The Rev. Stephen F. Ezop officiating.  Capital Lodge of S.O. #66 F. & A.M. will provide the Masonic Service.  Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, where Military Honors will be provided.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday.  Memorial contributions may be made to Lansing Masonic Temple.
